Cho Seung-Hui Stalked Two Female Students

Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech gunman implicated in the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. history, had been accused of stalking two female students and was taken to a mental health facility in 2005, CBS News has learned.

On Nov. 27, 2005, Cho contacted a female student through phone calls and in person. The student notified the Virginia Tech Police Department but declined to press charges. Officers spoke with Cho concerning the incident, however, and the investigating officer referred Cho to the university disciplinary system, the Office of Judicial Affairs. Cho Seung-Hui sends MSNBC a disturbing letter

The gunman who went on a deadly rampage at Virginia Tech university this week paused between campus shootings to mail a rambling manifesto of grievances to NBC, the U.S. network said yesterday.

Fronting its MSNBC news website was a photo of the grim-faced shooter brandishing the two handguns he used on Monday in the bloodiest shooting spree in modern U.S. history. The network said it had turned over the material to the FBI.

NBC News President Steve Capus was quoted as saying the package, received earlier on Wednesday, contained material that was "disturbing, very disturbing - very angry, profanity-laced." More...

Virginia Tech officials blameless

We have every right to demand a lot of the police and all those we charge with protecting our lives and those of our children. But we cannot expect them to be psychics.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Based on hindsight, local police and Virginia Tech president Charles Steger should have locked down the university campus and warned students to take cover immediately after discovering two people shot to death inside a dorm Monday morning. More...

Cho Seung Hui

This is a photo of Virginia Tech Mass Murderer South Korean Cho Seung-Hui

We now know the identity of the killer at Virginia Tech.

He is Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old resident alien of the United States, as first reported by ABC News.

Cho is a South Korean national, a Virginia Tech senior majoring in English and the man who killed 33 people — inlcuding himself — on the Virginia Tech campus Monday.

Sources tell ABC News that Cho killed two people in a dorm room, returned to his own dorm room where he re-armed and left a "disturbing note" before entering a classroom building on the other side of campus to continue his rampage.

Cho's identity has been confirmed with a positive fingerprint match on the guns used in the rampage and with immigration materials.

"Lab results confirm that one of the two weapons seized in Norris Hall was used in both shootings," Virigina Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said at a press conference Tuesday morning.

At this time, police are not looking for a second shooter, however, they did not rule out the possibility that an accomplice may have been involved. Sources say Cho was carrying a backpack that contained receipts for a March purchase of a Glock 9 mm pistol. Witnesses had told authorities that the shooter was carrying a backpack. Police also said this morning that Cho had a .22 caliber pistol. Sections of chain similar to those used to lock the main doors at Norris Hall, the site of the second shooting that left 31 dead, were also found inside a Virginia Tech dormitory, sources confirmed to ABC News.
